At the Annual Healdsburg St. Patrick's Day parade!!
Yet again, Healdsburg Rotary’s Polio Eradication Fundraising Event “Green Hair Day” is right around the corner.  Many Rotarians will dye their hair green and march in Healdsburg’s St Patrick’s Day Parade at 7am on Saturday, March17.  We are hoping that our friends and family will honor this incredibly worthy cause affecting children worldwide by supporting our personal commitments to raising funds on behalf of the Rotary International’s END POLIO NOW campaign.  Your gift will triple in value thanks to the 2 to 1 match by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation!  A $25 gift will be worth $75, a $50 gift will be worth $150, etc!
With 22 confirmed cases in 2017 to date, and just one case in 2018, the world is on the brink of eradicating polio, a vaccine-preventable disease that once paralyzed hundreds of thousands of children each year.  Rotary is giving $53.5 million in grants to support immunization and surveillance activities led by the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI).  More than half of the funds will support efforts to end polio in two of the three countries where polio remains endemic: Afghanistan ($12.03 million) and Pakistan ($19.31 million).

Our Community Service Projects
The main objective of a Rotary Club is service in the community, the nation and throughout the world. The Rotary Club of Healdsburg has a legacy of service in these areas going back to its charter year of 1948. The Club also offers financial assistance and volunteer services to many deserving non-profit agencies. Our projects from the fiscal year 2012/2013 included a $5,000 contribution to the Healthcare Foundation in support of the Healdsburg District Hospital and a $5,000 grant through the Healdsburg Educational Foundation to help fund an enrichment program at HES.  In addition, the Club funded a new pilot program for teaching English as a second language to parents of some of our elementary students, as welll as many other community causes and activities such as:

  • Foss Creek cleanup
  • Lytton Springs rehabilitation GED education program
  • Healdsburg Area Science Fair
  • Healdsburg Wine Library courtyard project
  • Meals on Wheels
  • Worth Our Weight
