On March 28, 2022, the Healdsburg Rotarians met via Zoom with two clubs in Ukraine. Attending were members of the Rotary Club of Zaporizhzhia (the city where Russian missiles struck and ignited fires at the nuclear power plant a just few weeks ago), and the Multinational Rotary Club of Kyiv, which includes members from both Ukraine and Belarus. The Ukrainians were inspirational and touching, and talked extensively about their service to their community and the needs to help their community during the violent struggle and catastrophic events they are faced with.
Healdsburg Rotarians felt this was one of the most momentous & relevant talks our Club has seen. It was, indeed, a moving experience. These are such brave people, living with unspeakable tragedy. Our Rotary club is already raising money to help fund the need for medical supplies and equipment. Listening to these folks via Zoom, there wasn’t a dry eye amongst the dozens of us attending.
