Community Service

A primary objective of the Rotary Club of Healdsburg is to provide help and support to worthwhile organizations in Healdsburg as well as agencies throughout the United States and the World. Healdsburg Rotary has a legacy of support going back to our founding in 1948. We offer financial and ‘hands-on’ support to numerous non-profit agencies. Recent Community Service emphasis in Healdsburg and Geyserville has been directed towards educational and healthcare endeavors, but we’ll certainly consider other areas of need.  In addition, our Scholarship program offers financial aid to deserving local students who intend to attend college. For more on Scholarships, see Youth Service.

In essence, we utilize funds acquired through our various fund-raising activities, the most successful of which is our Annual Crab Feast & Auction. The funds are then dispersed to agencies and non-profits who have met the standards of our application process, and who have been approved by the Community Service Committee and the Board of Directors.

Some projects are ‘hands-on,’ and our participation consists of ‘doing’ rather than financial support. Some examples of those are the Foss Creek Cleanup, the Annual Rotary Easter Egg Hunt, and the Healdsburg High School Freedom Day. Please contact us if we can be of service….that’s what we do! See below for details of our grant request process.

The Community Service Committee will consider written requests for grants. Our emphasis is on the following:

  • YOUTH-ORIENTED PROGRAMS
  • ELDERLY NEEDS
  • DISADVANTAGED
  • HEALTHCARE
  • POVERTY
  • LITERACY
  • EDUCATION
  • HOMELESS SERVICES

All grant requests should be in writing, and should also utilize the attached form (see link below). Mail to Healdsburg Rotary, Attn: Community Service, P.O. Box 671, Healdsburg, Ca 95448

Please be aware of the following:

*Community need must be identifiable
*Requesting agency must be tax-exempt
*A specific dollar amount must be included

Special attention is given to groups that have efficient administration of funds, volunteer support, serve sizeable numbers of people, programs with long-term effects, programs that attract community support, and requests that offer matching funds. We may request that organizations that receive funding follow-up with a report that addresses the results of the donation.

The Rotary Club of Healdsburg receives far more requests than there is money available. We cannot fund every worthwhile endeavor. Our funding is intended for groups as opposed to individuals. We are non-political and non-religious, and we avoid controversial public measures. We may request a financial statement or additional information. Also, we may request that your organization consider providing volunteer support at our fund-raising activities or community projects.

Proposals are considered monthly…please give us ample time to respond. Click here to view and download the form, then print the form, fill it in and submit it to the aforementioned address.
